Former Buckeye Football Star Teams Up With Researchers to Prevent Impact Injury

Shawn Springs has spent a career concentrated on impacts. As an All American and All-Big Ten honoree with a 13-season career in the NFL, Springs knows all about impacts. Now Springs is playing the research game in collaboration with Buckeye researchers at the College of Engineering. They are still studying impacts and how to protect ourselves from them, especially concussions, in our everyday lives.

Springs is the operator and founder of an applied sciences and tech company, Windpact. Windpact focuses its resources on implementing real world impact solutions. The company has developed new impact technology and has created a database all about foam materials.

Windpact and Buckeye researchers are working with the university’s Materials Lab to discover materials that could potentially save lives in impact type situations.

With years of wisdom among the staff and all their equipment Springs knew he had the perfect partners for Windpact. Springs is excited to continue to develop specific technologies for all kinds of situations from football helmets, catcher’s masks to combat helmets for our soldiers.
