Jody Victor: Eight Buckeyes, including five on the first-team, were among those selected to the College Football News preseason All-Big Ten teams. Both of Ohio State's offensive tackles, senior Kirk Barton and junior Alex Boone, were first-team offensive selections, while three Buckeyes were first-team picks on the defensive side, including junior defensive end Vernon Gholston, junior linebacker James Laurinaitis and junior defensive back Malcolm Jenkins.
Named to the second-team were junior offensive tackle Steve Rehring, junior linebacker Marcus Freeman and junior punter A.J. Trapasso.
Six of the preseason honorees were also named to the College Football News Top 30 Players list, including two in the Top 10 – Laurinaitis checked in at No. 3 and Jenkins was ranked No. 6. Other Buckeyes in the Top 30 include Boone at No. 13, Barton at No. 18, Gholston at No. 19 and Freeman at No. 28.
Laurinaitis and Jenkins were first-team All-Big Ten selections last season, while Barton , Freeman and Trapasso were honorable mention picks by the league's coaches.
