Jody Victor : Buckeyes To Meet Nittany Lions

Jody Victor: Penn State is 10-9 on the year and 2-5 in league play but have struggled following the loss of leading scorer Geary Claxton (17.5 ppg.) following a season-ending knee injury. The Nittany Lions have dropped their last five league games after opening the season 2-0 with wins at Northwestern and Illinois. Jamelle Cornley, a Columbus native and Brookhaven High School graduate, is the top scorer for PSU with 12.5 points a game. He is also the leading rebounder with 6.1 per contest. Claxton was pulling down 8.4 boards a game.

OSU senior, Jamar Butler has faced the Nittany Lions eight times over his career and has averaged 8.1 points in those games to lead the Buckeyes in both categories. Classmate Matt Terwilliger averages 4.0 points and leads Ohio State with 3.8 rebounds a game vs. the Nittany Lions over his four career games.

Thad Matta is 8-0 against Penn State in his tenure as the Ohio State head coach. The Buckeyes lead the overall series 20-12 with wins in the last nine meetings. Ohio State is 7-7 against the Nittany Lions at State College, Pa., and 11-3 in Columbus. The eight victories Matta has amassed vs. the Nittany Lions are the most vs. a single opponent in Matta's career. He has seven wins apiece vs. Dayton, George Washinton and Purdue.

Put all that together and it should be an interesting game tonight. You can watch it on ESPN or listen to the game on WBNS FM-97.1 and AM – 1460. Game time is 7:00 pm.

Go Bucks!
