Jody Victor: Ohio State pounded out 13 hits en route to a 10-8 victory over Indiana Sunday afternoon at Bill Davis Stadium. With the win, Ohio State won the series and moved to 19-9 on the season, 4-2 in the Big Ten. Indiana dropped to 15-15, 3-3 in the Big Ten.
Buckeyes starter Dean Wolosiansky tossed six innings, giving up six hits and four earned runs while striking out three to even his record at 3-3 on the season. Theron Minium tossed the final three innings, striking out a pair, to earn his third save of the season.
Brian Delucia led the Buckeyes offensively, going 3 for 3 with four RBI and a run scored while Michael Stephens finished 2 for 4 with three runs scored and an RBI.
For the second consecutive day, the Hoosiers got out to the early lead and once again, it was Micah Johnson sparking Indiana offensively. The freshman singled to lead off the ballgame, advanced to third after a sacrifice bunt and a ground-out to first, and scored on a two-out RBI single by Alex Dickerson as the Hoosiers took the 1-0 lead.
The Buckeyes answered right back to score four in the bottom of the first, getting to Indiana freshman starter Walker Stadler. After Zach Hurley singled to lead off the inning and Cory Kovanda flew out to center, Hurley was erased on a fielder's choice by Dan Burkhart and that is when the Ohio State rally started. Stephens followed Burkhart with a single and Ryan Dew walked to load the bases with two out. Cory Rupert then hit a swinging bunt down the third base line and the throw to first by Indiana catcher Dylan Swift tailed up the line and allowed Burkhart and Stephens to score. DeLucia then followed with a two-run single to give Ohio State the 4-1 lead after one. For the rest of the game highlights go to osu.edu.
Next up, the Buckeyes travel to East Lansing to face Big Ten leader Michigan State for a three-game series beginning this Friday.
