Butler averages a team high 7.7 points a game vs. the Wolverines and averages 33.5 minutes a game. Senior Othello Hunter, a junior college transfer, faced Michigan three times a year ago and owns the team lead with 4.3 rebounds a game.
Thad Matta, head coach of the Buckeyes, is 6-0 in the Michigan series during his tenure with the Buckeyes. Ohio State leads the all-time series 82-69 with a record of 47-26 in Columbus. The Buckeyes faced Michigan three times last season winning 73-63 in Columbus Feb. 6, 65-61 in Ann Arbor March 3 and in the quarterfinal round of the 2007 Big Ten Conference Tournament, 72-62 March 9.
Jamar Butler needs only four assists to reach 500 for his career. He will become just the second Buckeye to reach 500 helpers, Kelvin Ransey is the career leader with 516 from 1977-80.
