The Gators finished the regular season at 12-1 with wins over LSU, at Tennessee and against Arkansas in the SEC Championship Game.
The Ohio State Buckeyes will be making their second appearance in a BCS National Championship Game. The Buckeyes defeated Miami, 31-24, in a double-overtime classic in the 2003 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl. The Florida Gators will be making their first appearance in a BCS National Championship Game. The Gators played Nebraska in the 1996 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl for the national championship and won the following year in the Sugar Bowl to claim the national title.
