Ohio State Heads to Orlando to Face UCF, The Citadel and Oklahoma

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State baseball team travels to Orlando, Fla., this weekend for the UCF Tournament. The Buckeyes take on host Central Florida at 7:05 p.m. Friday before facing The Citadel at 12:05 p.m. Saturday and Oklahoma at 10:05 a.m. Sunday at Jay Bergman Field.

OHIO STATE OF LATE
The Buckeyes opened the 2014 season by splitting four contests last weekend in Port Charlotte, Fla. Ohio State picked up an 8-2 win over Connecticut in the opener and followed that up with a 1-0 victory over Auburn before dropping 7-3 and 8-6 decisions to Indiana State to close the weekend.

Junior left-hander Ryan Riga tossed 6.0 scoreless innings, striking out three to pick up the win over Auburn. Freshman outfielder Ronnie Dawson went 5-for-8 with a double, a home run, three RBI and three runs scored while senior outfielder Tim Wetzel went 4-for-11 with three doubles, three RBI and two runs scored.

Ohio State Takes On Akron, Travels to Cincinnati in Midweek Matchups

COLUMBUS, Ohio ? The Ohio State baseball team hosts Akron Tuesday and travels to Cincinnati to take on the Bearcats Wednesday. Both games are slated for a 6:35 p.m. first pitch.

OHIO STATE OF LATE
Ohio State earned a series win in its first trip to Nebraska over the weekend. After dropping the first game of the series, 11-2, the Buckeyes won the middle game, 6-5, in 11 innings before picking up a 7-4 win in the series finale.

Pat Porter finished the weekend 5-for-13 with a double, a triple two runs scored and an RBI while Brian King was brilliant on the mound in the finale, tossing 7.0 shutout innings, allowing three hits while striking out three.

SCOUTING AKRON
Akron is 8-25 on the season but won a conference series at Ohio over the weekend. Jared Turocy has helped pace the Zips offensively with a .304 average with a double, a triple, a home run, 11 RBI and seven runs scored.

Ohio State holds a 17-9 lead in the all-time series with Akron.

SCOUTING CINCINNATI
Cincinnati enters the week with a 13-21 record after dropping a series over the weekend at Rutgers. Ian Happ leads the Bearcats with a .325 average wtih 12 doubles, a triple, two home runs, 23 runs scored and 21 RBI.

Ohio State leads the all-time series with the Bearcats, 65-23-2.
