? The Buckeyes have won all three meetings vs. SDSU in Columbus in 2001, 2003 and 2005.
? Ohio State will try and improve to 2-0 for the fourth consecutive season and seventh in the past eight years.
? Ohio State is 67-7 (.905) at Ohio Stadium since the start of the 2002 season.
? Junior Braxton Miller (2,063) needs 18 yards rushing to pass Cornelius Greene (2,080) and become Ohio State’s all-time leading rusher among QBs.

Buckeyes Win 35th Consecutive Home Opener with 40-20 win Over Buffalo
Braxton Miller threw two touchdown passes and Jordan Hall ran for two touchdowns to lead the Buckeyes to a 40-20 victory over Buffalo on Saturday, extending the nation’s longest winning streak to 13 games. Hall had a career-high 159 yards rushing, scoring on runs of 37 and 49 yards. Miller was 15 of 22 passing for 178 yards with TDs of 47 yards to Devin Smith and 7 yards to Chris Fields. He also ran for 77 yards on 17 attempts despite being hampered in the second half with cramps.

Ohio State was in control after its first three possessions and led 23-0 after the first quarter. Miller hit Smith on a 47-yard scoring pass on the fourth offensive play of the game. Then Miller found Fields on a 7-yard scoring pass and Hall scored on a 49-yard scamper with 38 seconds left in the quarter. After the Bulls cut the gap to 23-13, the Buckeyes regrouped and took control. After fumbling on the previous OSU possession, Dontre Wilson took a kickoff back 51 yards to set up Ohio State’s next score. On first down, Hall bolted through the line for a 37-yard score. Later, QB Kenny Guiton came in to toss a 21-yard TD pass to Fields and kicker Drew Basil capped the Ohio State scoring with a 39-yard FG midway through the fourth quarter.

Defensively, Ryan Shazier, Curtis Grant and Christian Bryant led the Buckeyes with seven tackles while Noah Spence added six tackles, 2.0 TFL and 1.0 sack.

    Ohio State hosts UCF Saturday in Ohio Stadium in the first-ever meeting between the schools. The noon kickoff will be televised nationally on ESPN2 with former Buckeye and NFL wide receiver great Joey Galloway providing color commentary alongside the play-by-play of Beth Mowins.

    Ohio State is coming off a season-opening 56-10 win over Miami in front of 105,039 fans at Ohio Stadium. The Buckeyes shook off a slow start to amass eight touchdowns and 538 offensive yards – 368 by Braxton Miller- while the team’s defense held the Redhawks to negative rushing yards (-1).

    UCF rolled over Akron last Thursday, 56-14, in front of a partisan crowd of 12,616 fans at Akron’s InfoCision Stadium. The Knights scored four rushing and four passing touchdowns and put the game away with a 28-point second quarter. Statistically, outside of a 206-69 rushing advantage for UCF, the numbers were similar (UCF had 386 yards to Akron’s 325; Akron led in first downs 19-18, but the Zips also lost three fumbles).

    Ohio State is still currently ranked 18th this week by the Associated Press with the new poll scheduled to be released Tuesday. The Buckeyes, who have been ranked by the AP more times – 790 weeks – than any school in the nation, appeared in the AP preseason poll for the 24th consecutive season two weeks ago, the longest such streak in the nation. This initial ranking in 2012 also marked the 45th consecutive season Ohio State has appeared in the AP toll, tying Alabama for the longest active streak.

    The season-opening win by the Buckeyes was the first at Ohio State for Urban Meyer, who is now 4-0 in inaugural games. The win improved first-year coaches’ records at Ohio State to 22-1-1 in their debut games and to 22-1-1 in their initial home game. Ohio State has won 33 consecutive home openers.
