The Wisconsin Series
Ohio State has won three of the last five meetings with the Badgers and has two victories in the last three in Columbus. Overall, the Buckeyes own the series lead with an 83-66 record and are 52-22 in games played in Columbus. As a ranked team, Ohio State is 21-11 in the Wisconsin series. Junior Deshaun Thomas leads Ohio State against the Badgers with an average of 10.5 points per game over four career meetings. He also is Ohio State’s rebound leader with 3.5 boards a game among current Buckeyes. Both Thomas and classmate Aaron Craft have made better than half their shots in the series. Thomas is shooting 56 percent (18-32) while Craft knocks down 52 percent of his shots (11-21) in the series.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Deshaun Thomas earned Big Ten co-Player of the Week honors Monday after leading the 15th-ranked Ohio State men’s basketball team to a pair of wins over Big Ten opponents, including No. 2 Michigan. He shares the conference accolade with Indiana’s Cody Zeller, who led the Hoosiers in beating Penn State and No. 8/10 Minnesota.

Thomas averaged 21 points in a road win against Purdue followed by a victory against previously unbeaten and second-ranked Michigan. The junior forward tallied 22 points, seven rebounds, two steals, a block and an assist against the Boilermakers. He then followed the performance up up by recording 20 points, four boards, an assist and a steal versus the nationally ranked Wolverines.

Thomas, a native of Fort Wayne, Ind., shot 51.6 percent from the field, including 50 percent from three-point range and is the Big Ten?s leading scorer. He earns his second Player of the Week award of the season and the third of his career.

The Buckeyes now are 13-3 on the season and 3-1 in the Big Ten heading into a 6 p.m. Saturday contest against Michigan State in East Lansing, Mich.

Wisconsin’s Sam Dekker rounded out the list of weekly honorees from the Big Ten Conference, earning Freshman of the Week honors.

101 Years in Big Ten
Ohio State celebrates 101 years as a member of the Big Ten Conference in men’s basketball in 2013. The Buckeyes finished in the No. 6 spot in the 1913 conference standings, the first season of league play. Over the 100 previous seasons, Ohio State has earned 20 Big Ten regular-season titles with 24 NCAA tournament appearances, one national championship (1960) and 10 trips to the Final Four. Eight former coaches and players are members of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame while nearly 50 student-athletes have been drafted by National Basketball Association teams, including 23 in the first round.

The Nebraska Series
The Big Ten opener vs. Nebraska marks the second season Ohio State and the Corn Huskers have met in Big Ten play. Overall, the Buckeyes are 6-2 in the series. Ohio State has won the last five meetings, including both last year in Nebraska’s inaugural Big Ten season. The Buckeyes are 4-0 in Columbus vs. the Huskers. Ohio State won 71-40 at Value City Arena last year on Jan. 3, 2012. Ohio State is 3-0 as a ranked team in the series. The Buckeyes were ranked No. 6 in the Associated Press poll in both games last year. Deshaun Thomas leads Ohio State in the Nebraska series with an average of 15 points a game. He also is Ohio State’s top rebounder with 5.0 boards a game in the series. In two games last year, Thomas connected on 12 of 18 shots from the field (.667) vs. the Huskers. Evan Ravenel averaged six points and 3.5 rebounds. He made 5 of 7 shots vs. the Huskers (.714).

? Saturday?s contest marked the 10th meeting all-time between Ohio State and Kansas. The Jayhawks hold a 7-3 advantage in the series and have won five games in a row.
? With the loss, OSU falls to 25-24 all-time against members of the Big 12 Conference.

The Winthrop Series
The Eagles and Buckeyes will be meeting for the first time Tuesday. Winthrop, located in Rock Hill, S.C., is a member of the Big South Conference. The Eagles are the second-consecutive Big South representative to face the Buckeyes after UNC Asheville traveled to Ohio State last Saturday (OSU win, 90-72). Overall, Ohio State has a record of 14-0 vs. teams representing the Big South Conference, which includes five wins vs. Asheville, three wins vs. Virginia Military Institute, two victories each against Radford and Presbyterian and lone wins vs. Coastal Carolina and Gardner Webb. Ohio State has yet to play against Campbell, Charleston Southern, High Point, Liberty and Longwood. Thad Matta is 11-0 during his coaching career against members of the Big South Conference. The last Big South school to take on Ohio State (before Asheville and Winthrip) was VMI Nov. 23 at Value City Arena, a 107-74 Buckeyes win.

A Look at the Eagles
Winthrop enters the game vs. Ohio State with a 4-4 record. Wins have come against St. Andrews, Lenoir-Rhyne, Brevard and at home vs. Ohio University last Saturday (50-49). Losses have been to Indiana State, Virginia Commonwealth, Wofford and James Madison. The Eagles are led by sophomore guard Derrick Henry with 15.6 points a game. Gideon Gamble, a graduate guard of Winthrop, and sophomore point guard Andre Smith average just shy of 10 points a game. Larry Brown is the team’s top rebounder with 5.8 caroms a contest.
